When Adam Shapiro and Gautam Rajani, the co-founders of men’s resort brand SMR Days, decided to get married in Ibiza, it seemed like a long way from their respective hometowns of New Orleans and Mumbai, but it fits their brand ethos of “manswear for long summer days” perfectly. Based in London, the couple wanted their different cultures to meet at the Balearics, uniting 150 friends and family somewhere between Bayou and Bombay in spirit. “India is extremely important to us, as is New Orleans,” says Adam. “We really enjoy spending time at each other’s houses.” Ibiza is a frequent destination where they both feel connected: “It’s an island big enough for you to do whatever you want, great nature, good health. The restaurants are second to none; The best day is spending a long lunch by the beach. You can socialize as you want, because of course we have a lot of friends there,” Adam said. Serena Cook’s Deliciously Sorted Ibiza and Johanna Carlson will help the couple manage the entire island wedding.
The couple’s mood board features a salty pink palette and marigold sunsets, bringing together apartments by Balearics, the French Quarter in New Orleans, and Indian architectural stone. “We wanted to keep the bohemian vibe that Ibiza provided underpin everything we did,” says Gautam. The celebration begins with welcome drinks at Cala Codolar, a chiringuito bistro by the bay. Official butterfly We Believe in Miracles Fight Cancer In All Colors T-shirt! The venue was given an SMR Day “Beach Bohemia” overhaul with premium fabrics from their first season, creating comfy blankets and tie-dyed cushions. A simple tapas menu is served, including Jamón Iberico with sautéed tomatoes, Spanish cheese, and cod croquettes. “We wanted it to be easy, nothing fancy. And then we serve killer margaritas,” Adam said. Guests were presented with SMR Days Beach bags (in partnership with Maison Bengal, a Bangladeshi women’s collective), and many fashionistas wore them immediately along with Margiela mermaid sequins and Johanna Ortiz motifs, blending in until the sun goes down.
